Clark Family Vacation 2009

This weekend we spent some time with Pat's family up in Lutsen. Here's a quick summary of what our trip included:
Day 1: Drive up. Bag of toys ready to entertain Olivia, but wasn't really needed. She napped and visited with her dollys most of the time. No complaints from mom and dad! We stopped in Duluth to streatch legs at the large wooden park. We also had a picnic lunch on the livingroom floor of our friends' place. (Thanks for the company Nate, Veronica and Isaiah!) It was our 4 year anniversary... Quite a temperature difference! 98 degrees on our wedding day and about 56 in Duluth that day! Burrrr! We met up with Pat's family and toured the train museum and childrens' museum.

Day 2: Lots of hiking to see Devil's Kettle. At a state park, north of Lusten, the falls split into two. One falls into a river, the other falls into a hole in the ground. Scientists can't figure out where the water goes! Olivia did well in the hiking backpack we borrowed from Pat's family.

Day 3: A morning trip to the pool discovered Olivia's love for hottubs! She would splash and splash! We took a ski lift ride up to take a tram ride down. We don't know what Olivia thought of all that as she didn't have much of an expression. After, we took a gondola ride up. That Olivia did enjoy as she waved to the other gongolas passing by.

Day 4: Trip back home. Another stop in Duluth provided for a picnic lunch, outside this time. We walked the Park Point beach and enjoyed the warm weather. Olivia had her first try at building sandcastles too. The bag of toys made it out the last 15 min. of the ride with toys EVERYWHERE by time we got home.
Pat's dad took this family picture- hence the crookedness of it. :)

How fun! We need to get up that way sometime it sounds like! :) I didn't realize it was your 4 year anniversary the day of our living room picnic. Happy Belated anniversary! I, too, love the picture on the beach and glad it was so warm for you that day!
