We were going to a party in Stacy MN, which is about an hour and a half drive for us. We decided to see if there were any state parks in the area. Interstate State Park was a good fit. Although we went to the Minnesota side of the park first and realized there was really nothing to see there, but there was a Wisconsin side to the park (Hence the name Inter-state.) So, once we got there, we saw what this park was really known for... pot holes! Yep, at first when Pat and I saw a sign indicating pot holes we thought they were warning us of them in the road. These were unlike any pot hole I have ever seen. They were over 10 feet across, and the deepest one we saw (called the Bottomless Pit) measured over 60 feet deep.
Pictures really don't do it justice. The pot holes were fascinating, the St. Croix is so beautiful, and the cliffs are unlike what we have just a few hours south. Add to it that many of these formations were formed from moving ice, and it's just incredible!
Also- give my kids an "inchworm" and they will be occupied for a very long time.
