Bentleyville
We headed to Duluth for an extended weekend. Mostly it was to visit my sister Katelyn (who has been extremely homesick). We headed up on Friday when MN was getting blasted with the first snowstorm of the season. It was mostly downpouring rain all the way up, then sleet, then snow. While it did take longer to get up there, once we were there, it was so pleasant knowing we didn't have anywhere we needed to be. We just hung out and enjoyed the cozy inside with books, legos, crafts, and food. And we enjoyed the outside with snowball fights and sledding down the hill on Donovan's snowboards.
We took part of a day to explore parts of Duluth like Park Point, which we soon learned was far too cold and windy to spend any time there. We also hit up a few shops and a candy store.
By far a highlight of the trip for me was Bentleyville. A Christmas lights display fit with hot coco, cookies, popcorn, and roasting marshmallows, with Christmas music playing, AND the fresh snowfall.... Pair all that with young kiddos who lit up at every sight... My heart was so full, and so ready for Christmas. Sorry Thanksgiving. Usually I don't give Christmas the time of day until after you are finished, but after this weekend adventure I'm in full Christmas spirit.
