The Clark and Olsen kids and moms had our 5th annual Laura Ingalls road trip! It was our farthest and hottest destination yet- Independence, KS where it felt like 103! After seeing the sites, we weren't sad to unexpectedly run into a water park. We didn't take any pictures there, but it was definitely a highlight of the trip for all of us. And us moms felt like we were pretty awesome for saying yes to it!
We tried to get into food places that aren't common in MN. Maid Rite and Steak N' Shake were a hit. We also ate at Chick-fil-A since the kids and I had never been there.
Our journey also took us to Mansfield, MS where we toured the homestead of Laura in her adult life.
The last adventure was in IA where we toured the Living History Farms. The heat followed us on every leg of our journey, and some hotels we stayed in may have had questionable cleanliness, but we made the most of it and still had a fun time. Who knew five years ago when we went on a little day trip to Pepin, WI, it would lead us on a five year tradition!
