While at our stay at the cabin one day, we made the almost two hour drive up to Itasca State Park. It was almost 90 degrees, so we didn't do much for hiking. We are learning that Lily gets hot very easily. We did wade in the Mississippi headwaters and walk (stumble) across the stone pathway. I felt very lucky to spot Lady-slippers in the woods. The kids were thrilled with their smashed penny souvenir. On the way home we stopped by an adorable 50s diner to pick up malts for the crew.
