Five

Our girl turned five yesterday.  I love how her birthday celebration is just as much fun for all of us, as it is for her.  For me it’s a perfect time to reflect on the day she was born, what the day was like, and how our lives changed forever. 

 

We were able to hold on our tradition of spending the day together as a family for one more year.  With Olivia starting Kindergarten next fall we know days her birthday lands on a weekday, that won’t happen anymore, so it was important to do that this year.

 

We started the celebrating with our traditional donuts, which we usually get from the store and have at home.  This time we went to the bakery, and the donuts were extra yummy!

Then we were off to the MOA for rides! We have been there a few times, but this was the first time Henry could enjoy them too. We all had a great time! For Pat and I the fun came seeing the kids’ reactions.

After our fill of rides we headed out of the mall for lunch at TGIFridays. The food was so yummy including an ice cream sundae. The kids both ate great!

At home Henry napped while Olivia and I worked on making paper dolls with my cricut. She also helped to make cake pops for dessert. They didn’t turn out perfect since it was our first time trying to make them, but they sure tasted good. Baking things like this with her is good practice for me to not be so controlling. If it were just me making them they would have turned out a bit different, but this way she had more fun.
 

After a dinner of her request (Chineese), she opened the few gifts we had for her and we ended the day with trying out the cake pops.

What a super fun day! Such a treat to spend the day with family!
