Let's Go Fly a Kite

Today was the perfect day to go fly a kite!  The weather was warm for this time of year, and there was a nice wind blowing through.  Yesterday Pat and I did a little shopping for our big boy's birthday coming up, and Pat spotted a display of kites.  He has been wanting to get one for Olivia, so with a price tag of only $2.50, he was all over it!

Truth be told, I think we enjoyed it more than Olivia.  We flew it at my parents' house since they live up on a hill and had a wide open space for it with no power lines or trees in the way.  My brothers' dogs spend a lot of time there, and with the snow recently leaving, their piles of "business" were exposed on the ground.  Olivia admitted on the way home that she'd love to fly the kite again, but only if we can find a place without poop.  She was afraid the kite was going to drop in a pile of it.  (It really wasn't that bad, but apparently it got her all in a fluster.)

Pat saw a styrofoam airplane at the store too.  It brought the memory back to him that they had one when they were little, and he thought his parents might still have it.  Sure enough, they did!  Being that it was 20+ years old, it only held up for a few flights.

Still, Olivia enjoyed herself... Collecting golf balls and throwing them for my parents' dog, sporting her galoshes, and taking pictures of Mama.

A fun morning spent outdoors.  An added bonus is that this recent fresh air is wearing the kids out!  They are both excellent afternoon nappers lately, which allows us to get some outdoor projects done too!
