Family Bike Ride

Pat grew up biking a lot as a kid, and worked at a bike shop in his younger years too.  I never biked much. Living out in the country next to a busy road, we just didn't do it a whole lot.  For our wedding, Pat got me a gift of a new Schwinn bike.  We took the bikes out for a few rides when we lived in town, but moving out to my parents' place, and now in the country again, AND two kids later, there just hasn't been much of a chance to get out there again.  Until now.  For a gift for Henry's birth, my parents gave us a gift of money to use to put towards a bike trailer.  We found a great deal for one on Craig's List at the end of last summer.  Pat pulled it out for the first time today.  We tried finding a helmet for Henry, but his head is just too little for what was found, so for now we are just taking it easy until we find one that fits.

The kids loved the ride!  It was fun listening to Henry "sing" as he often does when outdoors.  We actually went on two rides today.  The first was early after lunch to just give it a test.  The second was after dinner before it got dark.  We went up and down the gravel road we live on.  It was perfect weather, no bugs, and only one other vehicle went on the road.  We met a dog along the way that looked like a Clydesdale, and followed us for quite a while.  Both of the kids did great!  I'm SO excited for more rides like this!
